Berlin - Berlin Tempelhof Airport

Flughafen Berlin-Tempelhof

Tempelhof Airport closed on October 30, 2008. It was built in the early 1920s, and was used during the Blockade of Berlin during the Cold War, when all land and water transport to West Berlin was blocked.

The Berlin Airlift (1948-1949 )

As part of Albert Speers' plan for the reconstruction of Berlin during Nazism, Professor Ernst Sagebiel was ordered to replace the old terminal with a new terminal in 1934. The airport is legendary and architect Norman Foster has called the airport "The Mother of all Airports".
